I bought a pre-configured linux box from Emperor long ago
and ended up regretting it mostly because I was afraid to
upgrade anything on it. Documentation on what they had done
to make the install work was lacking and they had some
specialized software in the kernel and X. If Ubuntu had
been available at the time, I might not have been happier.
I would guess that the ubuntu install didn't require
anything special to make it work.

I think the sale might be going on because there is a new
version of the eeepc that's supposed to be coming out in a
few weeks that uses the intel atom chip and is supposed to
have a better battery life.

Has anyone tried Ubuntu's Netbook Remix yet?

I found this really negative review from someone who bought
the 20G 900 and upgraded(?) it to XP. The native XP box is
only available with 12Gb. Seems he ran out of room for his
applications quickly for some reason. :)
