dpkg or apt, so if the uninstall doesn't work you might have to use
the process that Troy gave you.

If you want to completely uninstall the package that was installed
using aptitude, including config files, run "apt-get --purge remove
<package>". I've had to do this a time or two when I broke something
in a configs and wanted a fresh install.

If anyone has further thoughts I'll be very interested to hear them.
