If you read the document that I shared you could create new address books.
By configuring the application. Also using SQL or other database technologies
can have a lot of detrimental effects like data issues/inherent security issue
and maintainability across system will be very difficult.

I am one for standards, they are successful, also one can look at LDAP for support
with any application without having to build from scratch.
