it looks like no pppd was started when i ps -eda during this terminal
dialing. monitor seemed to ask<br>
the right ?s and when responded to properly looked like a session was
under way but without the <br>
deamon running is it possible?? the amount of time that passes from
ppp session beginning to <br>
no carrier is approx 30 seconds. Well, I hope that may shed some
light on this problem I,m having<br>

This sounds like maybe you've got the modem configured in a non 8-bit
clean<br>
fashion (like parity turned on) or that the login sequence isn't

followed correctly. This could possibly also be related to
flow-control<br>
being set wrong.<br>
