I have mplayer working on my RH system perfectly, so you might try
mplayer.<br>
I use the gui front end by envoking "gmplayer".<br>

A quick search of the debian packages shows mplayer is available for
unstable...it might also work with testing..it's worth a try.<br>
I have found a bunch of stuff that needs to be downloaded for it all to
work correctly though.,,,<br>
If you checkout the debian page for mplayer, you can see all the
dependancies: <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://packages.debian.org/unstable/graphics/mplayer">http://packages.debian.org/unstable/graphics/mplayer</a><br>
You may be missing a necessary library such as libdvdread.<br>

I have been trying to play dvd's for about a couple of
months now. I tried everything I could think of. I
installed all kinds of programs that I thought would
"do the trick".
I searched the Internet. Found a lot of stuff, some
good, some not. None worked.
The drive (the only optical drive that I have) plays
CD's OK.
It seems that the player is installed?:
