Dear Fellow North Bayers,

As I mentioned to some of you at last night's meeting, I'm the
proud founder of a new Linux based computer company that aims to be a model for
sustainable business in the computing industry. We've started off on
the right foot, locating our offices in the environmentally friendly
Sonoma Mountain Business Cluster in nearby Rohnert Park, and are
working on putting together our first products. We
need your feedback on computers, but especially regarding sustainable
computing, and we've put together a web survey - please give us a hand
and fill it out. I know many of you are passionate about
sustainability and of course, Linux, so please let me know if you'd like to brainstorm -
we're looking for a diverse group of advisors, as well as some exceptional hackers, designers, and business-y types. Here's the pitch and the
survey link right below. Hopefully I'll get to tell you more about the business at the next meeting in August.

-Daniel

-----------------------------------

Some would argue that times are changing because technology has
changed so rapidly, but in some ways technology is so very behind the
times. Now that we've seen how sending our technology jobs overseas,
filling up landfills in developing nations, overconsumption and the
bottom line business model has ravaged our economy and our environment,
it's time to catch up.

We're a startup computer manufacturer that does things differently.
We don't have a bottom line, we have several bottom lines. From
materials, to energy efficiency, to toxicity and recycling, to sourcing
of labor, suppliers, and vendors, to employment practices, to
technology, and more - we're focused on being sustainable from the
bottom up. While there are many companies that market energy efficient
computer products, our vertically sustainable business model makes us
unique.

Please help us make a difference for people, for the planet, and
for progress. Take the survey at the web link below, and tell us what
you'd like to see.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=rvGMljPow62Io6WBr0L9pw_3d_3d
