No. Don't shaddap ;) That is the point of your conversation.
I work for a school and I have been trying to influence the "powers
that be" to look at the real value of alternate sources (like open
source). However, we, being an educational institution, are given some
deep discounts on M$ products so that we can teach the software used in
the "majority" of businesses so our students can get jobs in the
current employment environment. OUCH!

Anyway like my dad used to try to explain to me, it's a big train
running down the track and it's very hard stop or change direction.

Still, it takes thinkers like you (all of you reading this here) to
pull that handle and make the train change tracks.
This needs to be communicated to school districts. Even better,
alternatives need to be communicated to *everyone*, because most people
still don't KNOW that you can run anything but Windows on a PC (PC. vs.
Mac is a great example). If people understood what open source was,
especially schools, many of them would be running Linux instead of Windows.
Kinda makes you wonder about WinME/Vista. It's almost like they KNEW it
was going to flop, so people would DEMAND XP.. so they have their choice
right there, never noticing the other alternatives. Keep em feeling like
they have a choice.
Hmm. Political events seem to have parallels to this as well (Ron Paul
anyone?). Ok, I'm *way* OT now, I'll shaddap ;)
Cheers,
Jordan
