Arch Linux + X + Fluxbox + SLiM and you're set. Ultra customizability (is this a word?)!

On Thu, May 24, 2012 at 4:49 PM, jezra <jezra@jezra.net> wrote:

Well said. I'm a big fan of OpenBox and Avant Window Navigator, it may
not be for everyone, but hot-diggity, it sure works for me.

Back to the discussion of the Dell "developers" linux laptop: As a
cynic, I will say "based on Dell's past history with Linux machines,
this will be discontinued in 6 months". As a Linux enthusiast, I will
say "Dell working with hardware vendors to get Open Source drivers for
the track pad will be a benefit for the entire Linux community".

The developer-centric "feature" being added to the OS sound like a
simple inclusion of apt meta-packages that a user can selectively
install on the machine.
