Same experience here.  meetup.com's services were pretty rigid and a little
clunky.  The rigidity does fit the regular meeting scenario better than the
casual "let's hang out" one, but I still don't think that given the
services we already have in place (web, mailing lists), that it adds
anything except possibly a little more visibility.

It's a little different obviously, but out here I'm involved with an
Ultimate Disc group -- we get a couple of new people every other week or so
who show up because they've seen our little flyers posted around the
island.  Maybe print up something simple and stash it where geeks hang
out...
