Virtual console switching

Alt-F1 - Alt-F6 suddenly stopped working for me for
switching virtual consoles.  Right after a successful
Alt-F2 console switch, in fact.  

I tried Ctrl-Alt-F[1-6] (like switching VCs from X), and
they work.  (But Ctrl-F[1-6] doesn't do anything, so Alt
is not just broken).

I rebooted and the problem persisted.

Anyone seen behavior like this?  Any thoughts?  Is my 
keyboard flaking out?
