[NBLUG/talk] Terminal window not working revisited

In a previous message I posted that I cannot use the terminal window 
while in Gnome, and I am still having the problem.  However,  if I bring 
up a terminal in KDE and type "gnome-terminal", a Gnome displays with 
the prompt *and* the keyboard is active.

I checked the properties of the Gnome Terminal icon and it specifies 
gnome-terminal (and the window does come up, but no prompt and the 
keyboard does not work).

In Gnome, the keyboard is active for all other programs; when the 
terminal window comes up, the prompt is *not* present.

Any suggestions?
