i haven't had crashing problems with dia in the past, but i do notice
there's a 0.91 version out - maybe that'll help with the crashing issues. 
course, keep in mind that the .91 version is a to port it to gtk2.0, so if
your distro doesn't have gtk2.0, you might want to stick with .90
