OK, but if I want to avoid evil things, what is the normal way to do
this?

in /etc/exports, add "no_root_squash" to the options for that entry, as
in:
/home 10.2.3.4(rw,no_root_squash)
Of course, it's better not to do such evil things, but sometimes you
have to...
