[NBLUG/talk] Mail migration

I'm building a new mail server, and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas
of a smooth and quick way to migrate stored mail from the old mail server.

The new server has spamm filtering and such, but the old one didnt.  Was
wondering would it be best to write a script that will re-deliver the mail
from teh old to the new via smtp so the spam filters get activated,
or would rsyncing the mailboxes just be the best solution?

I'm dealing with approx. 2500 mail boxes here. rsync seems to be
slow.. and I owuld have to stop smtp on both boxes while the
rsyn was running to prevent any problems..

Any ideas?
