I wish I could simply recompile the kernel; I've never done this before
and haven't even installed the src for linux until someone on this list
told me I needed to do that.

So I guess I'll wait for the meeting; 

wlan support should be compiled in already right? Why else would the
drivers be there for other similar devices.

How can you tell what support your kernel is compiled with or without?
