[NBLUG/talk] Lost my mouse!

Well, I solved the problem by disconnecting my mouse, rebooting and 
connecting the mouse - relying on the hardware detect facility.  
However, I would still like to know how to have done this manually since 
I do not like to rely on "automatic" procedures...they can fail...
