This is the correct place to ask.

Is there free, unpartitioned space on your hard disk (or a partition
that you aren't using)? If so, you can create a new partition there
using fdisk (or a more user-friendly variant such as cfdisk), and then
create an ext2 filesystem using the mke2fs command.
If your hard disk has no unpartitioned space in which you can create a
new partition, you'll have to shrink one or more of the existing
partitions to make room for it. However, unless you have the
appropriate software (e.g. PartitionMagic, a commercial application),
the contents of any partitions so modified will be DELETED. It might
actually be cheaper to get a second hard disk.
