Hi Marilyn,
Welcome to the NBLUG talk list.
How large is your HDD and what are the sizes of the 3 primary partitions you
have defined?
If you have 3 partitions defined and they are less than the total size of the
drive, then yes, you can create an extended partition. You may then create
logical partitions inside of the extended partition. The 'extended'
partition is merely a container for 'logical' partitions contained within.
You may create up to 12 'logical' partitions inside of your 'extended'
partition.
