[NBLUG/talk] locals: any 3Ware 8600 with Debian experience?

I've been given the task of getting a rack server
(SuperMicro P4SCA/P4SCE) going with a 3Ware 8600
SATA card, to do RAID 1.

Would like to use straight debian for this, and am
wondering:

* 2.4 or 2.6?  Any precompiled 3Ware driver for Debian?
The 3.0r2 cd boot doesn't see the controller.
