[NBLUG/talk] Wireless configure in Debian

How do I start wireless in Debian? I have a connection in Windows and 
Ubuntu. I do not have "Wireless Tools" installed in Debian.

iwconfig in Ubuntu;

root at ubuntu:/home/ian # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"SonomaGrove"

sit0 no wireless extensions.

I don't know how to configure (start) the wireless card (PCI) on the 
command line in Debian.

Help, pointers?
