[NBLUG/talk] WRT54G (or, "oh !$@*&$# -- I *missed* the key meeting(s)")

<Enter stage Right, cursing a blue streak...>

So, I was wondering if this *particular* topic
had ever crossed the NBLUG talk-list, so I pointed
Google at nblug.org...

   YO! 40some hits!

Including that I missed the topic as a 2-part
presentation topic at the General Meeting. GAAAH.

I understand that Dustin did a "part 1" but I can't find any
presentation-materials. I've found Mattew Smith's .odp for
the "part 2".

Wondering if I can get any more, or even if folks might be
interested in a WRT54G (and/or other linux-router-appliance)
thread on-list...?

I'll start: the feature-set(s) implemented by Open Source
hackers look *very* sweet. But I keep seeing hints, off-hand
remarks, to the effect that *stability* just isn't there. One
place mentioned how it would hang once a week; another
that there was a wierd 12-day (or 12.5-day) bug wherein
the DHCP server would unilaterally revoke all IP leases and
stop responding.

SO, despite all the uber-cool features, I'm seriously looking at
the possibility that NONE of these various "nicer" OS'es is for
me: I regard stability as one of the BIG draws of the *NIX
world, and this *IS* a primary access-point for a business...
