[NBLUG/talk] Installing a new font on Ubuntu

On the Ubuntu (with Gnome) machine, in the Synaptic package manager, I set the "Universe" property for software sources. Then, from a terminal command line, I ran the following command:
sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
I received the these messages in response:
"Package msttcorefonts is not available but is referred to by another package.
This may mean the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: package msttcorefonts has no installation candidate"
Does this mean I have to install the fonts manually?
Thanks...Steve
