No I think it means that the package isn't in the repositories you have. I'd
select all of the repositories and see if that works.

On the Ubuntu (with Gnome) machine, in the Synaptic package manager, I set
the "Universe" property for software sources.  Then, from a terminal command
line, I ran the following command:
sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
I received the these messages in response:
"Package msttcorefonts is not available but is referred to by another
package.  
This may mean the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or 
is only available from another source
E:  package msttcorefonts has no installation candidate"
Does this mean I have to install the fonts manually?
