linux gateway and router = redundant?

 From a $$ point of view keep the Linksys as your router.
 From a learning point of view chuck the Linksys and setup a Linux box as a 
router.  Set a cheap 8 port switch/hub for 50 bucks on the inside and be 
done with it.
There is always a price for learning something new..... your time...and 
more parts..  But that is why you are asking the question right???  There 
would be nothing to learn if you set the Linksys.
