Hey everyone. I got this in my mailbox this morning. Kind of a cool offer.
For those who don't know, S.u.S.E. has been really generous with their
support of our LUG (LUG's in general - not just ours actually) and we've
gotten lot's of goodies from them.
Good luck!

Subject: SuSE Linux User Group Giveaway
Hi! SuSE here. If any of your members want to win Linux software or one
of two Linux systems from SuSE -- their odds are still pretty good.
Could you remind them that, through April 21, we're still running that
giveaway for LUG members on the private area of our website:
http://www.suse.com/LUG/win.html
In addition to the weekly drawings for software, the grand prizes
include:
- an Alpha Processor Inc. Alpha System with a UP 1000 motherboard in
a custom-painted penguin case
- a truly geekworthy SuSE Linux system in a Pen-Pen penguin case,
hand-built by one of our own hardware engineers
NOTE: Since the only people being notified of this drawing are LUGs on
our mailing list, and we've only had a few hundred responses to date,
their odds of winning something are much better than average.
We also know that Spam is despised. So we promise not to give their
names and email to other companies or inundate them with junk from us.
Free stuff, good prizes, little hassle. Thanks!

Greetings all.
I hate to say this, but a bug has bitten us, and all of the RSVP data for
next week's meeting has been lost.
If you have RSVP'd, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could re-RSVP using the
form at http://www.nblug.org/rsvp.cgi
For those of you who HAVEN NOT RSVP yet intend on attending, please take a
moment to fill out the form. O'Reilly and I would be most grateful.

Greetings all you Linux nuts!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
For this meeting O'Reilly has asked that we try to estimate the number of
people showing up. To that end, if you plan on attending, please go to the
following URL and RSVP:
http://www.nblug.org/rsvp.cgi
Thank you!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's that time again...our March meeting is almost upon us. This month we
have not one, but TWO special guests! The first is Tim Allwine who will be
giving a talk about the infamous editor, vi. Here's a few words directly
from Tim:
My name is Tim Allwine. I am a Perl programmer working for IX Labs,
a small Internet developer in Santa Rosa.
At the next meeting I'll be giving an 'Introduction to vi' talk. If
you don't already know, vi is the "premier" text editor on most if
not all Unix machines. Because of its complexity, most people
quickly try and find another solution to their editing needs and
over look the power that vi offers. I will be demonstrating some of
the various editing techniques that can be done with vi. So if you
passed it by in favor of something more anemic and are looking for
something with a little more zip then this talk is for you.
Our second guest will be Chuck Toporek, an editor from O'Reilly and
Associates, our beloved hosts. He is going to be talking about a book
project he is working on, and he needs our help! This is your chance to
have input on, and possibly provide content to, an O'Reilly book.
Be sure to RSVP (as described above) if you plan on coming to this meeting.
Hope to see you there!
