Hello everyone! It's that time again. We're going to have an InstallFest!!
Here's the skinny on this InstallFest:
WHEN: Saturday, February 17th, 2001 - 10AM - 4PM PST
WHERE: O'Reilly & Associates in Sebastopol (directions on our site)
WHO: Anyone wanting help in installing Linux onto their computer
WHAT DO I DO: Go to http://www.nblug.org/installfest/ to signup!!!!
Instead of putting all of the usual "what is an InstallFest" info in this
and future announcements, we have a link up on our website as to what a
NBLUG InstallFest entails and how to participate. If you point your browser
of choice to http://www.nblug.org/installfest/, you'll be presented with all
the info you ever wanted to know about what goes on at an InstallFest, and
how you can get the most out of attending one.
We will again be taking signups for this InstallFest, so please be sure to
visit that URL if you plan on attending. People who signup and reserve a
time slot, are first in line. We've found that by taking signups, we can
help more people in a timely fashion. We can also make sure that enough
helpers are available for those wanting help.
We hope to see you on the 17th of next month! Also, don't forget about our
general meeting tomorrow night where we'll be doing just general chit-chat
and we'll also be talking about the recent release of Linux 2.4.0 and what
it can do for you. Until next time, take care!

Thought you'd all like to know that 2.4 has finally hit the streets!! Wow,
it's big! 24.4M is the .gz file and the .bz2 is 19.8M.
Here's Linus' announcement:

Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement about the February InstallFest and
for info about our February meeting. Oh, and yes, we are having a meeting
in January, but it's going to be one of those
we-were-all-away-parting-for-the-holidays-and-didn't-do-NBLUG-stuff
meetings. Most likely we'll just talk about nerdy stuff (including the
rlease of Linux 2.4.0 and why it's important to your grandmother and aunt
Ethal) and I'll see about bringing cookies or something.
